Hurricane Earl from space

Love this photo of Hurricane Earl from space taken by NASA astronaut Douglas Wheelock. I would also love to know specifics about what camera was used and at what settings because you never know when you’ll need to capture an image from outer space. ; )

But seriously, I would assume that with the lack of an atmosphere, images taken from outer space or in outer space would be crystal clear. This is also assuming that one had a camera with a clean sensor and one was outside of the spacecraft. If you download the larger image, you can see dust spots most likely caused by a dirty spacecraft window.

I did further research and found a blog by the photographer / astronaut and have posted a comment and question for him. When I receive an answer, I’ll post his response. Here’s his blog at Fragile Oasis.
